| | Inspire Pharmaceutical's President Christy Shaffer Receives Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Highest Award

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation honored Christy L. Shaffer, Ph.D., President and CEO of Inspire Pharmaceuticals, Inc., with the Breath of Life Award for her extraordinary commitment and support of the Foundation's mission.
The Breath of Life Award is the most important recognition given to an individual or company by the Foundation each year.
“Dr. Christy Shaffer has been an extraordinary advocate for those with cystic fibrosis (CF), both through her role as President and CEO of Inspire Pharmaceuticals, as well as her tireless efforts to help the CF Foundation raise funds to support vital programs,” said C. Richard Mattingly, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. “She is truly a person of commitment, great heart and enormous kindness, and we treasure her.”
For more than a decade, Dr. Shaffer directed many efforts in the support of CF patients and research. She was the first member of the Foundation's National Corporate Leadership Council and currently serves as Board Chair of the Carolinas Chapter of the Foundation. She led Inspire in its development of denufosol tetrasodium as a promising potential early intervention treatment for CF lung disease.
