CF Father Creates Music for a Cure

November 27, 2007

Strong CD
Every day, devoted parents around the nation dedicate themselves to supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  Some serve as volunteers for events, others host galas or golf tournaments. Edward Stroop—the father of a son with CF—makes music.  One hundred percent of the proceeds from Stoop’s new CD, called Strong, will go directly to the CF Foundation to help fight the battle against CF.

The father of 17-year-old Taylor, Stroop wanted to find a personal way to combine his passion for music with his passion to find a cure for the disease. After he founded the Sarasota-based music publishing company, Song House Records, he decided to create a special line of CDs, under the label Artist for a Cure.

In 2004, the title cut of Artist for a Cure’s first CD, One Step Closer, became the theme song for the Great Strides video that promotes the nationwide fundraising campaign. Since then, the CD has earned thousands of dollars, and many devoted listeners. CF grandmother Vikki Farley said, “My grandson will be born in four weeks and has been diagnosed with CF. I will be listening to One Step Closer as I walk the Great Strides walk…I would walk to the end of the earth to give him the cure we’re all striving for.”

Now there’s a second Artist for a Cure CD available, Strong. “Strong is full of positive and uplifting music,” says Stroop. “I am excited this new CD will help the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and believe families with CF will draw strength from it.”

As with One Step Closer, the proceeds from Strong will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the search for a cure.  In addition, the CD’s songwriters and leading vocal artist are generously donating all their royalties to this project.
